On the 1st February, 5C took the school on a journey through the history and significance of Candlemas, a special day for many around the world. Candlemas commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. According to the Bible, Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem 40 days after his birth to perform the ritual purification. In the Catholic Church, Candlemas is also known as the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. It's a day of renewal and hope.
5C told us how Candlemas is celebrated across the world, from France to the Philippines, and finished the assembly with a prayer they had written.
