On Tuesday, we held an EYFS communication workshop for parents. Sarah Coughlan, our Speech and Language therapist, spoke to parents about the best ways they can support their child's language development. She spoke about taking turns first in play and this then being used to model taking turns in conversations. She spoke about singing nursery rhymes, sharing books and breaking language down to make it more manageable. She spoke about having 10 minutes of 'special time,' with your child. During this time all distractions like, TV and IPADs etc should be off, which will help develop the children's attention and listening skills.
