St John XXIII Catholic Primary School Inspiring Faith in our Future

Spanish (MFL)

The main objective of teaching a modern foreign language in Key Stage Two is to promote the early development of a child's linguistic competence, provide the foundation for learning further languages and foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.

Pupils in Key Stage Two are taught specific skills, concepts and vocabulary in dedicated lessons by a specialist language teacher. In the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One, language is introduced in incidental sessions.

More formalised language learning takes place in Key Stage Two. The learning will be in Spanish and taught by a specialist teacher, Mr Pastor.
