Today, Year 5 visited Imperial College in Kensington. The children took part in a Maths workshop led by some maths PHD students.
We reflected on the different places we see and use maths in our everyday lives. Then in groups the children designed something to demonstrate and explain what they had learned.
The children really enjoyed visiting the university maths labs and hearing about how the maths they learn in school and the same skills they develop are used by university students in their own studies.
We look forward to our ongoing links with the students at Imperial College who will be visiting us in school over the next few weeks and months to lead the children in some different maths activities.
A good time was had by all.
