ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL
St John XXIII Catholic Primary School was founded by the Catholic Church to primarily provide education for children of Catholic families and to serve the communities in which they are built. The school is conducted by its governing body as part of the Catholic Church in accordance with its trust deed and instrument of government and seeks at all times to be a witness to Jesus Christ.
Whenever there are more applications than places available, priority will be given to Catholic applicants in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. The Governing Body welcomes all applications, particularly those of other denominations and faiths who support the religious ethos of the school.
A Certificate of Catholic Practice is a form signed by your Parish Priest to confirm attendance at mass. This is required as part of your application if you are a practising Catholic family.
What to do if you do if you are not eligible for a Certificate of Catholic Practice or your child has not been Baptised?
You can still apply for St John XXIII if you do not attend Church or if your child has not been Baptised. We understand that every family is different and that there may be circumstances that have prevented you from obtaining a Certificate of Catholic Practice for church attendance. If you have any questions or concerns about this, come in and speak to us. We are here to listen and to support you in finding the right education for your child.
RIGHT OF APPEAL
If you are unsuccessful you may ask us for the reasons for the refusal of a place. These reasons will be related to the oversubscription criteria listed in the policy and you will have the right of appeal to an independent panel. Should you wish to appeal please contact the school as soon as possible for an appeal form on which you must list your reasons for making an appeal. Appeals must be admitted to the school in writing by Friday, 26th May 2023.
