St John XXIII Catholic Primary School Inspiring Faith in our Future

World Book Day

`On Friday in school we celebrated World Book Day - and what a celebration it was. Children and staff dressed as their favourite book characters, we shared stories between classes, we had a special assembly with author Virginia Ironside and there were winners selected from each class who received book tokens and books.

In the Autumn term, children in our school entered a national competition to write a ‘Twisted Tale’. A fairy tale with a twist. Many children entered and all received a certificate.

One of our children however, Maria in Year 1 was the overall winner of the Key Stage 1 competition. Her fantastic writing was shared with the whole school in our assembly. Her story will be published into a real book, she received a certificate and £100 book vouchers! Well done Maria, we are all so proud of you at school.
