When we returned after our Christmas break we checked out the photos and videos taken of our Christmas Party! Dancing + cake = HYPER!!
In English we began the term by looking at the 1914 Christmas Truce during World War I. We listened to podcasts of veterans at the time to identify period language and gain a deeper understanding of the thoughts and feelings about the main events. After watching the Sainsbury's advert based on this true event, we planned a podcast of our own, acting as a solider. We role played our podcasts to help inspire the writing process.
This half term we are looking at 'Electricity', learning the symbols used to draw circuits, the components needed to create a simple series circuit, the dangers of electricity and we will be completing a fair test.
This week is mental health and well-being week so we took part in a number of different activities. We started the week by exchanging homemade gift to a ‘secret someone’, some of us baked, some free and some wrote poems or favourite memories. We then took a mindful walk around Wormhalt Park before enjoying the playground area!
We have PE with Mr Bridges this term and are beginning with 'Gymnastics'. We are also having dance.
In Maths, we have been learning about Fractions and Decimals. We have learnt to multiple and divide mixed and improper fractions as well as divide them. We are currently learning to multiply decimals by 10, 100 and 100 as well as multiply two decimals together.
To end our previous art unit we created our own silhouettes of a World War II scene. We discussed colour combinations and how to blend the pastels together, cutting out of black card the outlines of popular London tourist sights.
