Year 4 Trip to The National Portrait Gallery

Talking Paintings Tour

On Wednesday, our Year 4 class enjoy a fantastic visit to the National Gallery. Pupils looked at four historical paintings, one of them being the biggest painting in the National Gallery. They learned how to spot and interpret different types of patterns and cues that painters used to retell stories. Additionally, they learned that painters had to work together in order to create these pieces of art. Finally, they discussed and reflected on the different stories that are told in the paintings, such as the Annunciation and the Nativity.
