On Wednesday, Year 3 enjoyed a Stone Age experience day. We all came into school dressed up in our best leopard print and sabre-tooth-tiger-jewelry ready to live our day as Stone Age people.
During the day we did cave painting by torch-light under our desks, trying to replicate famous cave paintings that we have looked at recently in our art lessons.
We then learnt all about Stonehenge and began by making a paper model of the famous landmark. Once we had our designs ready we were set to make our very own biscuit-henges.
In groups, using icing sugar as cement, we built our henges to replicate the design of the original. We used larger biscuits to make the huge monolith stones and smaller biscuits to make the circle of blue stones. We made sure the centre of our biscuit-henges was dominated by an altar stone.
Of course the day wouldn't be complete without the chance to eat our designs and so we spent the last half an hour of our day demolishing our henges one monolith at a time.
A good time was had by all.
