On Wednesday 2nd April, Year 5 and 6 enjoyed an Online Safety Workshop led by Jo Hrabi, our Mental Health and Well-Being Advisor from Mind. The workshop provided an overview of online risks currently faced by our children, a discussion around practical tips for staying safe online and how and when to talk to an adult.
The workshop was a great opportunity for the children to ask questions, share any concerns and discuss with each other what life online is like for children today. The children demonstrated great maturity when discussing the topics that were brought up and were able to understand the risks associated with being online but also to identify the benefits that being online can have.
Jo delivered a similar workshop to parents with a particular focus on resources available to help guide our children in their internet use. Jo also discussed effective strategies for setting boundaries, fostering healthy online habits and initiating informed conversations with our children about internet safety at home.
Technology is constantly evolving and so too does the landscape of online risks, therefore this workshop was invaluable to our parents and Year 5 and 6 children.
6T collected the most gold coins this week; therefore they enjoyed some extra play on Friday afternoon. We had lots of fun in the sun and unwinding from a hectic revision week.
Year 6 loved spending time reading with and listening to the younger year groups. It was lovely to see the year 6s being fabulous role models.
