St John XXIII Catholic Primary School Inspiring Faith in our Future

Spring 2

Science Experiment - Transport of Water in Plants

The food colouring celery experiment demonstrates how water travels through the xylem tubes in plants. When celery stalks are placed in coloured water, the dye moves up through the xylem, making the stalk and leaves change colour. This visually shows how water moves through plants.

Y3 enjoyed their time in the aquarium, looking at various sea creatures and learning about how conservationists are helping to save our planet.

Other Faiths - Hinduism

We discussed items in the Mandir and how these are involved in Hindu worship

Computing - Spreadsheets

We used an excel spreadsheet to create a programmed treasure map

Brain Buddies - PSHRE

We learned about the composition of the brain and how decisions can be influenced by our emotions.

William Shakespeare

The children were given statements about William Shakespeare - but some of them were facts and some were fiction! It was up to the children to decide which statements were true and which were false.

Editing Final Draft of Narrative - King of the Sky

The children looked at what a good quality narrative looks like - we then edited our own drafts of our stories, entilted; "A New Beginning".
