The food colouring celery experiment demonstrates how water travels through the xylem tubes in plants. When celery stalks are placed in coloured water, the dye moves up through the xylem, making the stalk and leaves change colour. This visually shows how water moves through plants.

The children were given statements about William Shakespeare - but some of them were facts and some were fiction! It was up to the children to decide which statements were true and which were false.
