The main character in our book, King of the Sky by Nicola Davies, migrates from Italy to Wales. We looked at what migration is and why it happens. We looked at the Declaration of Human Rights and listened to stories of those who migrate to hear the reasons as to why people do. We also discovered contributions that migrants have made, both in the UK and around the world.
We created 'expert groups' - children learned about world rivers and returned to their own groups to teach their peers about a specific world river.
We discussed whether our main character should stay in Wales or return to his home country of Italy. We debated reasons for and against the motion.
We used a variety of sources to find out information about Rome, Italy. This is the setting of our new text - King of the Sky by Nicola Davies.
