Spring 1
Maths - Subtraction within 20
This half term in Maths, we have been learning about numbers to 20!
We have been working hard on solving subtraction problems within 20 using a range of resources to help us!
RE - Galilee to Jerusalem
In our new topic, 'Galilee to Jerusalem' we have been exploring Jesus' early life and childhood.
We have been learning about the place where he grew up and have been thinking about what life would have been like as a child during this time. We have listened to a range of stories so far, including Jesus' Presentation in the Temple and The Boy Jesus at the Temple. We explored maps to draw the journey the holy family would have made from Nazareth to Jerusalem and drew out the route, considering how the journey would have been made back then.
STEM - The Three Little Pigs
For our STEM lesson this half term, we completed an experiment based on the tale of the Three Little Pigs.
We worked in 3 teams; each team was given a different material (building blocks, sticks and straw) to build the strongest home for the 3 little pigs. We made predictions about which materials we thought would be the strongest and weakest. We then built up our homes using the materials and finally tested them using the fan!
The only material that remained in tact was the building blocks.
