This year, our Year 6 pupils are taking part in an inspiring new project called “Our Planet Needs You” (OPNY) — a climate change initiative bringing together schools from across Hammersmith and Fulham.
The programme began with a whole-school assembly, where pupils learned all about the challenges our planet is facing — from rising temperatures to plastic pollution — and, most importantly, how young people can make a difference. The message was clear: every action counts!
Throughout the year, OPNY will run monthly sessions with Year 6, guiding them through fun, hands-on activities and discussions designed to build their understanding of sustainability, teamwork, and leadership. These sessions will explore topics such as:
Reducing waste and reusing materials
Protecting local wildlife and habitats
Saving energy at school and at home
Inspiring others to take action
Our Year 6 students will also collaborate with pupils from other local schools, sharing ideas and competing in a friendly way to become the overall “School Winner” at the end of the project. The winning school will be recognised for its creativity, impact, and commitment to protecting our planet.
We’re so proud to see our pupils stepping up as environmental champions and can’t wait to see what amazing ideas they come up with. 🌱
Together, we can make a difference — because Our Planet Needs You!
