St John XXIII Catholic Primary School – 60th Anniversary Celebration
On Thursday 11th September, our school community came together to celebrate a very special milestone – the 60th anniversary of St John XXIII Catholic Primary School.
We were honoured to welcome Bishop Jim Curry, who celebrated Mass with pupils, parents, staff, governors, and many past members of our school family. It was a wonderful occasion to give thanks for six decades of learning, faith, and friendship.
Following Mass, everyone gathered in the Parish Hall for refreshments. A special highlight was when Fr Richard shared an extract from the school’s original log book, written on the very first day the school opened in September 1965. This gave us all a touching reminder of our history and the vision that has carried St John XXIII forward for 60 years.
We are grateful to all who kindly donated cakes and biscuits for the celebration – they were very much enjoyed! Meanwhile, the children continued the festivities back in their classrooms, where they had a lovely afternoon marking this joyful occasion together.
It was a day filled with gratitude, joy, and community spirit, and a wonderful way to honour the legacy of St John XXIII Catholic Primary School. Here’s to the next 60 years
