Year 5 Windrush event
Today Year 5 attended the Windrush 75th Anniversary event organised by Hammersmith and Fulham council on Shepherd's Bush Green. This was a great opportunity to mark the anniversary of the arrival in Britain of the Empire Windrush, bringing the first people from the Caribbean who would become the Windrush Generation and who would have such a huge impact on British life and culture. It was a time for celebrating all the great things the Windrush Generation have done, contributed and achieved but also to remember the struggles they faced.
Many local schools attended the event and gave performances on the Main Stage to entertain the audience. Year 5 contributed to the event by performing a street dance they had been practicing. They all did an outstanding job and represented our school superbly. I know they all got a huge buzz from being up on stage in front of all of those people and they did us all proud.
Thank you to those of you who managed to make it down to the Green to celebrate with us. A good time was had by all.
