Spring 1
DT - Moving Monsters
In DT, we have been designing and creating our own moving monsters! We learnt about mechanisms and linkages which are used to help things move. Then, we designed our monsters according to our design brief and then we made them!
Amazing Arrays
We've been learning about multiplication using arrays to organise our groups. We found that an array can represent two multiplication sums and that some numbers couldn't make an array.
Trip to Sainsbury's
In Maths, we've been learning about money and finding change. We went to Sainsbury's to test our knowledge and skills! We worked in groups to buy some snacks - yum!
Features of a Newspaper Report
This week Year 2 have become news reporters to write a newspaper report about what happened to the whale. In order to do this, we've been learning about the features of a newspaper report and the kind of things we will need to include.
Freeze Frames
Our text this term is The Snail and The Whale by Julia Donaldson. We have been acting out the story by creating freeze frames. We have been thinking about using our bodies to create objects such as trees, boats etc in the story.
Money
We've started our topic on Money and have been learning about the value of different coins.
3D Shapes
We've been working on 2D and 3D shapes. We can name shapes and identify properties!
Computing
Miss Alderson and Mr Pastor enjoyed their Christmas break a little bit too much!! So we've had to get straight back in to our Computing lessons to learn about using spreadsheets so we can help them organise information in to rows and columns. Today we were practice clicking a dragging to highlight a row or column and fill it with colour.
