St John XXIII Catholic Primary School Inspiring Faith in our Future

At St. John XXIII we believe that effective primary science education fosters curiosity and confidence in a fun, engaging and high-quality learning environment. By the end of their primary education our pupils should be equipped to make informed decisions about new technologies, their health and the scientific opportunities around them.

We aim for children to develop their scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding. To achieve this, children partake in a variety of practical hands-on activities which stimulate and challenge their scientific understanding. Importance is placed on first hand experiences with an expectation that teachers will access the wide range of resources available, as well as planning trips, events and celebrations in order to enrich our science provision. We ensure our lessons are accessible and engaging for all by providing support and challenge as appropriate.

The science curriculum of our school enables children to develop into life-long learners who will continue to explore the world around them.
